Some Vacation Cottages History
Here is a little bit about our story!
In the mid-1970s, Bob and Judy Roe started vacationing on Chincoteague with their 4 children. Bob and Judy fell in love with Chincoteague so much that they decided to quit their jobs with the Federal Government, relocate to Chincoteague. They opened Roe’s Vacation Services that partnered with Vacation Cottages. Eventually they took over Vacation Cottages in the 1990s. In 2012, their youngest daughter, Karen, and her husband Mike Murphy, took over Vacation Cottages. Karen’s two brothers also remain active in the company. Karen and Mike’s youngest daughter, Madison, joined the company in 2020 and has plans to take it over one day, with her husband Lee. Chincoteague is our family’s happy place and our team is committed to carry on their legacy as a family owned and operated company.
We consider ourselves to be the ‘mom and pop’ of vacation rentals! We specialize in providing clean and comfortable vacation homes in fantastic locations around the island, complete with all your favorite amenities!
We are so lucky to have had this company in the family for more than 40 years, and we couldn’t do it without you! We owe a big thank you to all of our amazing tenants and homeowners who return to us year after year!! Of course, no thank you would be complete without thanking all of our AMAZING staff & coworkers!!
